Rules

  1. Entry into the eircom Gaelic Rising Football & Hurling Fantasy Game is free.
  2. Fantasy teams must be selected from the squads published on the site at the time of the selection. Only squads from counties eligible for the Sam Maguire Cup are used in the Football Fantasy Game, and squads from counties eligible for the Liam McCarthy Cup are used for the Hurling Fantasy Game.
  3. All matches from the 11th July 2009 in the GAA Gaelic Football Championship will count towards fantasy football team scores. All matches from the 11th July 2009 in the GAA Hurling Championship in the Leinster and Munster provincial championships and All Ireland series will count towards fantasy hurling team scores.
  4. Fantasy teams may only be altered online. Fantasy teams will be given 1 transfer per week and be allowed unlimited substitutions. Prior to team registration transfers are unlimited. Transfers operate on a "use them or lose them" basis and do not carry over from one week to the next. The weekly transfer allocation will increase as the season progresses - announcements of such increases will be made in our weekly email newsletter.
  5. Entries which do not comply with competition terms and conditions may be ruled invalid. Entries are classified as subscriptions to the full functionality of the eircom Gaelic Rising Fantasy Game. They are not entries to a competition prize pool and do not have any claim at any time to any financial return.
  6. Each new fantasy team is awarded a total of €100,000,000 worth of virtual money at the start of the Championships. This amount may vary during the season.
  7. Each fantasy team will have 1 Goalkeeper, 6 Defenders, 2 Midfield, 6 Forwards and 5 optional substitutes.
  8. You may have no more than 10 football players from any one county or no more than 10 hurling players from any one county in your team. This rule may be amended as the All Ireland Football and Hurling Championships come to a conclusion to allow more flexibility when there are only a few counties left; announcements regarding rule amendments will be made on this web site and through our newsletters.

    Rule amendments:
    • from 29 July this rule changed from 3 to 5 players for football and 4 to 5 players for hurling
    • from 20 August this rule changed from 5 players to 10 for both the hurling and football games
  9. Points will be awarded as follows after match weekends:

Team compositions will be recorded 30 minutes prior to throw-in of the first match on a matchday and only those records will be used to attribute points relating to football and hurling matches. Although changes are allowed at all times (transfers and substitutions), only the recorded fantasy team compositions will stand for each match on a matchday.

Scores will be bound to the match reports of the Organiser's Data Provider and will only be altered on a unilateral decision by the Organiser. The final scores will be those as calculated at the end of the Championship taking into account all match reports and documentated alterations. The organiser's decision on scoring is final and no formal correspondence will be entered into, although the online forum allows for a transparant discussion of score issues between the organiser and all registered users.

  10. If any county player withdraws or fails to take part in the Championships, for any reason, no points will be awarded and no replacements can be nominated on paper entries by those who have selected the player concerned.
  11. Replayed games WILL contribute to fantasy team performances.
  12. Winners - The overall winners will be the managers of the most successful fantasy teams in each of the Football and Hurling Fantasy Games - i.e. the team which has amassed the most points after the All-Ireland Football and Hurling Finals 2009 and tops the leaderboards at this time.

The overall winners of each game will win €1000.

In the event of a tie the player with the greater bank balance within the game will be considered the winner. If this does not resolve a tie the first prize may be shared between winning team managers. Overall winner(s) will be required to take part in publicity activity related to this promotion.

The monthly winners will be the managers who score the most points for one team on one calendar month. In the event of a tie, the monthly prize may be shared between winning managers. Monthly winner(s) will be required to take part in publicity activity related to this promotion.

Details of prizes for monthly winners will be announced soon.

  13. Entrants must keep a record of their entry details - these cannot be re-supplied.
  14. The organisers reserve the right to reject team names considered to be offensive or inappropriate. As detection of abusive names occurs, the organisers will rule the team invalid.
  15. A first booking scores -3 points. A second booking also scores -3 points, giving a score of -6 points for a sending off as a result of a second bookable offence. A straight red card scores -6 points. In the event of a player already on a yellow card receiving a straight red card that player will score a total of -9 points for their sending off.
  16. Only results of completed matches will count in the fantasy team competition.
  17. The organiser's decision is final and no correspondance will be entered into.
  18. The organiser reserves the right to rule a team or set of teams invalid when strong suspicion exists that a user has knowingly broken the playing rules, or has attempted to alter team data by any means other than those provided for within the game.
  19. The organiser reserves the right to alter these rules at any time without prior notice. Any such rule changes will be announced via weekly newsletters and/or this web site.
  20. In the event of data corruption the organiser reserves the right to restore the data to the latest valid back-up available and calculate the scores as permitted by such back-up.
